Bishops Cleeve tournament success for the QWFC U10 Blacks which highlights the team's future.

Quedgeley Wanderers U10’s Blacks arrived at the Bishops Cleeve tournament as an unknown quantity as the only Gloucester-based side in a tournament dominated by Cheltenham-based sides.

Drawn in a very strong group alongside last year's winners Gotherington, Lakeside, Charlton Rovers and 2 x Bishops Cleeve sides, we were able to progress through the group to the knockout stages with 3 victories and two very hard-fought draws.
Conceding just one goal and narrowly missing out on topping the group on goal scored.
This resulted in a tougher route if we were to progress further.

Displaying true teamwork with moments of quality throughout we were able to progress through to the final with a 1-0 victory in both the quarter-final and semi-final against Charlton Rovers & Leckhampton Rovers, respectively.

Through to our first final, the team played with great maturity in a tense and very even contest against hosts Bishops Cleeve.
It came down to penalties but the team held their nerve to come out victorious!

The team displayed fantastic football throughout looking like they had played together for a lot longer than one year.

In 8 matches we scored 8 goals and conceded just 1 goal.

The level of football at their age group was outstanding and to stand out in that shows how far our boys have come in such a short space of time. It is easy to forget that at the start of this season, this was a development team with only one player who had ever played in a competitive match before.

To see the speed of the team's development, togetherness and willingness to listen & learn throughout the season has been fantastic and bodes well for their future.

Thank you to all at Bishops Cleeve FC for a brilliantly run tournament and a fantastic day!
