Quedgeley 4-0 Cashes Green

Quedgeley entertained a Cashes Green who were an established division 1 side. Wanderers were simply awesome at times and the higher league side really struggled to cope with the quick passing game.
Chances were taken in complete contrast to the previous day and Quedgeley lead when good work down the right hand side resulting in a cross being handled at the back post and James Mulrain converted with a perfectly taken penalty. It did not take long to become two, a great turn and shot from the edge of the area from Nick Thorne flew in off the keepers post, exactly what he had deserved for his recent performances.
The second half demanded much of the same and with two minutes of the restart Ant Sparrow raced through one on one with the goalkeeper and fired past the advancing keeper with ease.
The Cashes Green defence was all at sea and often left the goalkeeper exposed as Quedgeley continued to mount waves of attacks and they never looked like scoring themselves against a strong Wanderers defence who always looked in control.
It looked like Quedgeley had made it 4-0 when Dean Hankins expertly volleyed a dropping ball over his shoulder into the top corner but an assistants flag ruled the goal out for offside. Eventually he did however get his goal, a Sparrow corner was only half cleared and a rocket of a half volley from Hankins right boot made it 4-0.
In stoppage time Steve Sparrow's long goal kick was well controlled by Hankins as he advanced on the keeper and cheeky lob looked to have wrapped up the most convincing of victory's but the ball bounced down off the underside of bar and looked a cert to have crossed the line but was somehow not given.
The perfect performance one which the Cashes Green lads commented as Quedgeley being the best side the division 1 team had faced all season.
